Biography

Dr Anu Mathew graduated from medicine at the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2005. She undertook clinical research studying the infectious eye disease trachoma, completing a Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2010. Her research investigated the presence of trachoma throughout the Pacific Islands and was funded by the WHO. She went on to undertake ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2015.

She undertook further advanced training in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Dr Mathew currently has appointments with the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Women’s Hospital. Her surgical expertise covers most areas of paediatric ophthalmology, general ophthalmology and strabismus.
