Biography

Dr Jonathan Ruddle graduated from medicine at Melbourne University in 1998. He undertook Ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2007.

Further advanced training in glaucoma, paediatric and genetic ophthalmology took place at the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and in London at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

Dr Ruddle has appointments to the Glaucoma and Genetics clinics of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and is a consultant ophthalmologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital. His surgical expertise covers complex cataract and glaucoma surgery of all ages.

He continues as a Senior Research Fellow through the Centre for Eye Research Australia with publications and projects investigating the genetic basis of both common and rare glaucoma and strabismus. He has also published work on clinical outcomes in paediatric cataract and glaucoma seeking to find the best solutions for these difficult conditions.
