Biography
Dr Kathy Jao is a comprehensive general ophthalmologist/eye surgeon who treats both adult and paediatric patients. She specialises in anterior segment (cornea & cataract), Oculoplastics and Strabismus (eye muscle disorders).
After graduating with honours from medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2012, Dr Jao completed ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne. She was awarded fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2021. She undertook sub-specialty fellowships and advanced training in both Australia and England. Her fellowships were in Cornea and Oculoplastics at Royal Perth Hospital and Paediatric and Strabismus at Queensland Children’s Hospital and she gained further experience in Oculoplastics at Aintree University Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool.
Dr Jao currently works as a visiting consultant at The Alfred Hospital and The Royal Children’s Hospital.
Outside of medicine, Dr Jao enjoys spending time with her young family, participating in and admiring art and music, and travelling.
